No Epstein money is documented as entering the Gates Foundation, and no released document indicates he influenced a single programme. Bill Gates has not been charged and denies wrongdoing. Nothing here is settled. Roughly 3.3 million pages remain unpublished, and the JPMorgan correspondence most relevant to this page sits in a Treasury file withheld from Congress since 2022. This report sets the foundation’s work beside the relationship so both can be read against each other — not to imply the first was shaped by the second.
The three things this page separates.
What the foundation did — documented, published annually, and independently reported. Over $100 billion given in 25 years; 82 million lives credited to Gavi and Global Fund support; wild poliovirus down 99.9% since 1988.
What Epstein attempted — a multibillion-dollar fund brokered through JPMorgan on Gates’s money, and a memo describing his intent to “leverage the resources” of the foundation. Never built.
What is not established — that any programme, grant, partnership or hire resulted from the relationship. Nothing in the released files supports it.
Why the negative finding still matters. The foundation is the largest private funder of global health in history. If Epstein had converted even a fraction of it, that would be among the most consequential facts in the archive.
He didn’t. And the reason is worth stating: the foundation’s programmes were set by disease burden and epidemiology, not by whoever had dinner with its chair.
What the relationship did cost was personal rather than programmatic — a marriage, a reputation, and a congressional appearance. Those are documented on the Bill Gates file. This page is about the work.
This report finds no evidence that Jeffrey Epstein influenced the Gates Foundation.
Not a grant, not a programme, not a country strategy, not a hire.
The foundation’s portfolio in 2010 and its portfolio in 2026 are recognisably the same portfolio, pursued at greater scale.
That is the finding, and this site records negative findings with the same care as positive ones. Where the files are silent, silence is reported as silence — not as proof, and not as exoneration.
Section 01
The Two Tracks
Three tracks. What the foundation was doing; what was documented between Gates and Epstein; and what Epstein was separately doing in Africa in the same years.
The third track is not a set of Gates Foundation activities and must not be read as one. It records Epstein’s own Africa operation — surveillance brokering, port concessions, a sovereign currency scheme, a political prisoner campaign — which had no connection to the foundation’s programmes.
It is here because the two ran on the same continent in the same decade, and because they touch at exactly one documented point: November 2018, when Epstein used Boris Nikolic — the same intermediary who was by then his only channel to Gates — to try to route a contraceptive distribution deal toward Gates Foundation grants.
No document establishes that any grant followed. Placing the tracks side by side shows how little they intersect, which is the point of doing it.
Global Agriculture and Food Security Program launched with the US, Canada, Spain and South Korea — initial contributions near $900m.
Nothing documented in this period.
The Africa operation begins. The densest Kampala cluster in the files runs 30 Sept – 11 Oct. In November, Sultan bin Sulayem introduces Epstein to Karim Wade in Paris — son of Senegal’s president.
$630 million for polio eradication with Rotary and the British and German governments. A joint $100m commitment with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi to vaccinate children in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The meetings begin. Gates meets Epstein on numerous occasions from 2011 — three years after the conviction. At least three at the Manhattan townhouse.
Nina Keita — niece of Côte d’Ivoire’s president — begins corresponding with Epstein. In May, Wade plans a tour for him through Senegal, Mali and Gabon.
$168 million to the PATH Malaria Vaccine Initiative. Melinda commits $1.5 billion over five years to women’s and children’s health.
Epstein emails JPMorgan executives proposing a multibillion-dollar charitable fund built on Gates’s money — a memo records his intent to “leverage the resources of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.” It was never created.
Nothing documented in this period.
The London Family Planning Summit. Contraceptive access commitments across the global south.
Nothing documented in this period.
Epstein meets President Ouattara in Abidjan, in a ministerial suite booked by the president’s niece — having asked in advance to see “very pretty girls.”
Agricultural development and financial-services-for-the-poor programmes scale across South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.
Bill and Melinda meet Epstein together. Melinda tells Bill she is uncomfortable. A June meeting in Paris follows. In July, Epstein writes two emails to himself claiming he facilitated encounters for Gates — never sent; Gates calls them “absolutely absurd and completely false.”
Bin Sulayem emails Epstein from Uhuru Kenyatta’s inauguration in Nairobi. Ehud Barak begins a period of 30+ visits to Epstein’s properties, running to 2017.
$241 million more to Gavi for its role in polio eradication, including inactivated polio vaccine, covering 2015–2018.
A $2 million donation reaches the MIT Media Lab. Epstein takes credit for it. Gates denies any connection; MIT’s review found no evidence it was made at his behest.
Israel and Côte d’Ivoire sign a security cooperation agreement. Epstein’s attorney conducts due diligence on a 727 sale into Uganda. Bin Sulayem sets out a regional logistics plan from Mombasa.
Continued scale-up across polio, malaria, HIV and maternal health.
Gates’s final direct email to Epstein in the DOJ documents.
Barak-linked digital surveillance contracts in Nigeria are documented from this year through 2019.
Breakthrough Energy launched around the Paris climate conference.
Nothing documented in this period.
Zimbabwe. Epstein emails the director of MIT’s Media Lab proposing to approach Robert Mugabe with a sovereign currency scheme, calling the country a “great petri dish.” DP World begins securing 20–30 year concessions across Kenya, Tanzania, Senegal, Angola, Mozambique and the DRC.
Malaria and TB vaccine trials advance. Target Malaria’s gene-drive research continues.
The channel narrows. Gates has stopped engaging directly; contact runs through Boris Nikolic. In June, Epstein writes to Nikolic for relay: “you can tell your boy that i still hear from mila. i put her through computer school.”
Karim Wade is released on 24 June. Epstein had spent $1,050,000+ on the campaign since 2010.
Gates personally invests in Alzheimer’s research, outside the foundation.
Epstein emails Gates seeking reimbursement for Antonova’s costs. Per the Wall Street Journal’s sources the tone suggested he knew of the affair and could expose it.
Nothing documented in this period.
Programmes continue — polio, malaria, Gavi, maternal health.
Nothing documented in this period.
The one point of contact. Epstein introduces Harry Fisch — a New York urologist and officer of pharmaceutical company Veru — to Boris Nikolic. Fisch wanted an introduction to the Gates Foundation, for grants to distribute female condoms across Africa, against a documented three-million-unit shortfall in Uganda. No document establishes whether any grant followed.
Polio, Gavi and Global Fund programmes continue without interruption.
Epstein names Nikolic a backup executor of his estate; Nikolic says he was never told. In October the New York Times reports the extent of the meetings.
January. Bin Sulayem writes about a DP World signing in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, then onward to Uganda and Tanzania. The arrest follows in July.
WHO certifies the African region wild polio-free. COVID-19 response — CEPI, the ACT-Accelerator, vaccine manufacturing finance. $1.6 billion to Gavi, bringing total commitments to $6 billion.
Gates leaves the Microsoft board.
Nothing documented in this period.
Programmes continue. Governance expanded with new trustees.
The divorce, after 27 years. Melinda French Gates cited the Epstein relationship as a contributing factor.
The WHO/MPP mRNA Technology Transfer Programme launches with its hub at Afrigen in Cape Town — two years after Epstein’s death, and unconnected to any of the above.
The organisation is renamed the Gates Foundation.
Nothing documented in this period.
Nothing documented in this period.
$200 billion over 20 years, and a sunset date of 2045. More than $100bn given in the first 25 years; 82 million lives credited to Gavi and Global Fund support.
Nothing documented in this period.
Nothing documented in this period.
IAVI G004 begins dosing in Soweto — a Phase 1 mRNA HIV vaccine trial, 96 participants across six South African centres, funded by the Gates Foundation via CAVD.
Nothing documented in this period.
Nothing documented in this period.
$9 billion a year — maternal and child health, infectious-disease eradication, poverty, and AI applied to health and learning.
The DOJ release. The draft emails, the Nikolic correspondence and the Antonova material enter the public record.
The same release produces the Africa files documented across this site — Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria and Tanzania.
Programmes continue unchanged.
Gates testifies to Congress. He says he “should never have met with Epstein in the first place,” but “never witnessed nor had any indication that Epstein was engaged in ongoing criminal conduct.”
Nothing documented in this period.
Section 02
Where the Tracks Touch
Across nine years and seven countries, Epstein’s Africa operation and the Gates Foundation’s Africa programmes intersect at one documented moment.
November 2018. Epstein introduced Harry Fisch — a New York urologist and an officer of the pharmaceutical company Veru — to Boris Nikolic, then managing director of Biomatics Capital and previously Gates’s top science adviser.
Fisch was seeking investment, and specifically hoped Nikolic could introduce him to the Gates Foundation for grants to distribute female condoms across Africa — against a documented three-million-unit shortfall in Uganda, a country with high HIV prevalence.
Why this is the one that matters. Every other Africa thread — the Zimbabwe currency scheme, the Côte d’Ivoire surveillance approach, the DP World port concessions, the Karim Wade campaign — runs entirely outside the foundation’s world.
This one used the same man who was, by then, Epstein’s only remaining channel to Gates. Nikolic appears in both columns of this timeline: relaying Epstein’s messages in 2016, and receiving a health-product introduction in 2018.
What the files establish. The introduction, the intent, and the target. No released document establishes whether Fisch obtained Gates Foundation grants, whether the foundation was ever approached, or whether Nikolic passed anything on. No allegation of wrongdoing has been established against Fisch, Veru, the Female Health Company, the Gates Foundation or Nikolic in connection with it.
The timing. Eight months before the arrest — and, on the foundation side, in a year when its programmes ran without any documented change.
Senegal — $1,050,000+ spent freeing a president’s son from prison.
Côte d’Ivoire — an Israeli surveillance approach to Ouattara’s government, after asking his intermediary for “very pretty girls.”
Zimbabwe — a sovereign currency scheme for Mugabe, routed through a university lab director, in a country he called a “great petri dish.”
Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria — port concessions and surveillance contracts through DP World and Barak.
None of it is health philanthropy. It is access brokering — and the contraceptive introduction is the only time it pointed at a vaccine-adjacent funder.
The Africa operations →
Epstein was extremely active in Africa. The Gates Foundation is extremely active in Africa.
Those two facts are true independently, and the released files connect them at a single introduction whose outcome is unknown.
Reading the third column as a list of foundation activities would invert what it actually shows.
Section 03
What He Tried to Get
August 2011 is the moment the foundation itself becomes the target.
Epstein emailed JPMorgan executives proposing a multibillion-dollar charitable fund — Gates’s capital, the bank’s structuring, other billionaire donors, financing global health projects worldwide.
An insider memo recorded him proposing to “leverage the resources of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.”
The timing. That is the same year the meetings began, and the same year the foundation was committing $630m to polio and $168m to malaria vaccines. He was pitching against a live, visible, enormous spending programme.
What he would have gained. Not a commission. A fund of that scale with his name on its creation would have made him permanently unremovable from institutional life — the same product documented at MIT, at a hundred times the scale.
What happened. No such fund exists. None appears in the released material.
The honest caveat. That is an absence in a curated archive. The bank correspondence sits inside the Treasury file withheld from Congress for four years. The documents most likely to show whether anything smaller followed are the documents nobody has seen.
The one transaction he did claim. A $2 million gift to the MIT Media Lab in 2014, which Epstein took credit for. Gates denies any connection, and MIT’s independent review found no evidence it was made at his behest.
Section 04
The Continuity Finding
Read the left column on its own and the relationship is invisible.
Before contact (2010). Polio eradication, agricultural development, maternal and child health, sanitation.
During contact (2011–2019). Polio eradication, malaria vaccines, Gavi, sanitation, agricultural development, financial inclusion — at increasing scale.
After contact (2020–2026). Polio eradication, malaria, Gavi, TB, maternal health — at greater scale still, now with a 2045 sunset and $200bn committed.
There is no inflection point. No programme starts when the meetings start. None ends when they end. No country strategy tracks his travel. No grant follows a dinner.
Why that is genuinely informative rather than merely reassuring. This site documents institutions where the opposite is true — where a surveillance proposal followed an introduction, where a programme director proposed board seats and private money routing, where a barred donor kept an office for a decade.
The Gates Foundation shows what the absence of that pattern looks like, and it is worth having in the archive as a control case.
The structural reason. Foundation programmes are set by disease burden, trial pipelines and multilateral commitments negotiated years in advance with Gavi, the Global Fund and national governments. That machinery is very hard for one person to move — which is precisely why Epstein went at it through JPMorgan and a proposed fund rather than through the programmes.
Most institutions in this archive show a documented distortion — a rule bypassed, an office granted, a proposal carried.
The Gates Foundation shows an institution he had extensive personal access to, and could not move.
That comparison is what makes the other findings meaningful. If everything looked captured, nothing would.
What the method predicts →
Section 05
Where the Work Happened
Overwhelmingly sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia — which is where the disease burden is.
Malaria. The RTS,S Phase 3 trial enrolled 15,460 children and infants across seven sub-Saharan African countries between 2009 and 2013. The R21 efficacy trials ran in Nanoro, Burkina Faso, and across seasonal-transmission sites. Rollout has been through Malawi, Kenya, Ghana and onward.
Tuberculosis. The M72 vaccine trial network includes the Be Part Yoluntu Centre outside Cape Town, South Africa.
Polio. The African region was certified wild polio-free in August 2020. Endemic transmission now persists only in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Gavi. African countries account for the majority of coverage gains across more than a billion children immunised since 2000.
Sanitation, agriculture and financial inclusion concentrate in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia for the same reason.
Why this belongs on this page. The geography is the most common route into the claim that the foundation is conducting something improper on African populations. The honest answer is that the trials are where the disease is, they run under national regulators and ethics committees, and the products are the ones those countries then receive.
Nothing in the released Epstein files touches any of it.
Malaria kills around 600,000 people a year, roughly 95% of them in Africa, and most of them children under five.
Tuberculosis and HIV carry their heaviest burden in the same region.
A malaria vaccine cannot be trialled where there is no malaria. The location of the work follows the location of the disease — which is also why the same geography recurs across every major funder, not just this one.
On mRNA — a correction worth making
The deployed malaria and TB vaccines are not mRNA vaccines. This gets asserted often and it is not correct.
RTS,S/AS01 (Mosquirix) is a protein subunit vaccine — a fragment of the malaria parasite’s circumsporozoite protein fused to hepatitis B surface antigen, self-assembling into a virus-like particle, expressed in yeast.
R21/Matrix-M uses the same platform — the same protein, a higher antigen ratio, expressed in Pichia pastoris yeast, with a Novavax adjuvant. It reached roughly 75% efficacy in African children.
M72/AS01E, the leading TB candidate, is also a protein subunit vaccine.
Polio vaccines are live-attenuated or inactivated. Lenacapavir, the long-acting HIV prevention drug, is a capsid inhibitor — not a vaccine at all.
None of the tools at the centre of the foundation’s malaria, TB, HIV or polio work are mRNA.
Where mRNA in Africa is real
It is real, it is recent, and none of it predates 2021. mRNA was not a deployed vaccine platform anywhere before COVID-19, so there is no African mRNA programme running back to 2010 — a claim that circulates and does not survive the dates.
Manufacturing capacity. Afrigen Biologics, Cape Town is the hub of the WHO and Medicines Patent Pool mRNA Technology Transfer Programme, launched June 2021 and inaugurated April 2023, with Biovac and the SAMRC. Spokes include Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal and Tunisia. BioNTech’s Kigali facility opened December 2023, backed by CEPI ($145m) and EC/EIB financing (up to €95m).
And the Gates Foundation funds mRNA clinical research in Africa directly — not only the factories:
IAVI G003 — the first-in-Africa trial of the programme, testing the eOD-GT8 60mer immunogen on Moderna’s mRNA platform, at the Center for Family Health Research in Kigali, Rwanda and The Aurum Institute in Tembisa, South Africa. African-led; results published 2025.
IAVI G004 — first doses administered 15 December 2025 at the Perinatal HIV Research Unit in Soweto. A Phase 1 dose-escalation study, 96 participants across six South African centres, testing three immunogens on Moderna’s mRNA platform. Conducted by African investigators.
Funding for G004 was provided by the Gates Foundation through the Collaboration for AIDS Vaccine Discovery.
Two further Gates-funded HIV trials in Africa are not mRNA: IAVI C114 (August 2025 — Harare, Cape Town, Durban) uses a viral-vector platform; and BRILLIANT 011, cancelled when USAID was dismantled in early 2025, was kept alive by the South African Medical Research Council and the Gates Foundation as a smaller African-led study.
So the accurate summary, corrected. The foundation’s malaria and TB vaccines use protein-subunit platforms, not mRNA. But it is a direct funder of early-phase mRNA HIV vaccine trials in South Africa and Rwanda, and of African mRNA manufacturing capacity. These are Phase 1 safety and immune-response studies of a few dozen to a few hundred consenting adult volunteers, run by African investigators under national regulators, with community working groups attached. Nothing in the released Epstein files touches any of it.
Section 06
The One Adjacency
One thematic overlap exists, and this site records it rather than leaving it for someone else to find.
The foundation funds Target Malaria, which develops gene-drive mosquitoes — engineered genetic elements designed to spread through and suppress wild malaria-carrying populations.
That is the same underlying technology developed by the MIT Media Lab’s Sculpting Evolution group, whose collaborator George Church was both an MIT visiting professor and a documented recipient of Epstein funding at Harvard.
Why it does not amount to a connection.
The malaria work predates Epstein’s involvement with Gates entirely. Gene drives are an open, published field with many independent groups. And no document connects Epstein to Target Malaria, to the foundation’s malaria strategy, or to any gene-drive programme.
Why it is recorded anyway. Because Epstein’s documented personal interests were genetics, eugenics and the engineering of populations — and gene drives are the nearest thing in mainstream science to deliberately altering a species.
An adjacency is not a link. Recording it, and saying plainly that it is not a link, is how this site handles the difference.
The unexamined thread remains the one noted on the MIT page: the Media Lab’s Digital Currency Initiative and the Zimbabwe currency proposal ran in the same window, at the same institution, under the same director. That is an MIT question, not a foundation one.
True: the foundation funds gene-drive research, and Epstein was preoccupied with genetics and human engineering.
Also true: nothing whatsoever connects him to that research, it predates him, and it is malaria-suppression work aimed at saving several hundred thousand lives a year.
Both statements are accurate at once. A reader who takes only the first has been misled — including by omission.
Section 07
Open Questions
Across sixteen years the Gates Foundation gave more than $100 billion, helped halve child mortality, drove wild poliovirus down 99.9%, and committed $200 billion more before closing in 2045.
Across five of those years, a convicted sex offender met its chair repeatedly, pitched a multibillion-dollar fund on his money, and — on everything the released files show — got none of it.
This file is open because 3.3 million pages are not, and because the bank correspondence most relevant to it has been withheld from Congress since 2022. But on the evidence available, the work did not bend.
