Section 01
The Bear Stearns Arbitration
The documents trace a single relationship from social acquaintance to litigation.
In October 2002, Warren Spector — then co-president of Bear Stearns — is emailing about Paris apartments on Avenue Foch. In March 2007, Bear Stearns staff are handling onboarding paperwork for Jeepers, Inc., sent by Epstein’s attorney Darren Indyke.
In June and July 2007, two Bear Stearns Asset Management hedge funds collapse, an early marker of the crisis. Spector is forced out.
On 12 July 2008 — twelve days after he entered custody — Epstein, writing under an alias, directs strategy: "tell Spector’s attorney that we will subpoena the entire risk committee, they know that Warren put money in the fund without the committee’s approval."
In 2009 the arbitration is filed. By May 2011 Indyke is circulating the file and a draft settlement agreement exists.
Epstein’s entities held a position in Bear Stearns hedge funds, lost money when they collapsed, and pursued recovery through arbitration from 2008 to at least 2011. Epstein personally directed litigation strategy from custody.
The size of the loss, the amount claimed, or the settlement terms.
The arbitration filings are in the corpus; we have indexed their text but not yet read the figures. The claim that Spector placed money "without the committee’s approval" is Epstein’s allegation, not a finding.

A draft Settlement Agreement and Release, marked "without prejudice," dates from the same year.Section 02
October 2008: TARP, From Custody
The most striking single document is a policy email.
On 23 October 2008 — twenty days after TARP was signed into law, while Epstein was serving his sentence — he writes: "early morning idea, still needs tweaking regarding last nights conversation. I think that a complex problem requires a more complex solution. Instead of the tarp buying mortgages, they/we should…" Primary source
Two things in it matter, and both must be read carefully. "Last night’s conversation" means he had discussed TARP with someone the evening before. And "they/we" places himself, however loosely, inside the policy conversation.
What it does not show: the recipient, who he spoke to, or whether the idea reached anyone with authority. One email expressing a view on TARP is not evidence of influence over TARP. Unresolved
The same day, JPMorgan was running a credit memo on him — later filed as Exhibit 6 in USVI v. JPMorgan. He was being assessed as a credit risk and opining on the rescue on the same afternoon.
This raises an investigative question. It does not establish causation.

JPMorgan Through the Crisis
These are account-administration records. They establish that the relationship operated normally through the crisis — not that anything improper occurred.

Five Explanations, Retested
This does not rule out other positions we have not found. It does mean the evidence available points the opposite way from the popular account.
